I'm looking for someone affordable in the Santa Barbara/Ventura area (preferably Santa Barbara) who can help us diagnose and rebuild the engine in a1974 Sea Ray SRV 220 CC. I think it's the original engine, but I'm not sure. It's a Mercruiser V8 inboard/outboard engine. I believe it was running as recently as 2015, but the carburetor and air cleaner had been removed when I got the boat, plus the fuel line is broken (very minor fix) and there is no battery. Trying to decide whether we need to remove the engine from the boat during restoration that will require tearing out old rotten stringers and foam, but may not require rebuilding the engine box or the transom. Still checking on the extent of the rot.

Hi there, welcome to iboats!:)

Unfortunately I can't point you to someone directly but as some starting points for you, the info below are of some ideas for you to consider looking into within your area.

Try searching online " Santa Barbara Marine Engine Repair Shops " and you should be able to find a few places including the white/yellow pages.

If you still happen to receive a phone book, have a look under boats. In my area the phone book is typically full boat repair services.

Also on craigslist under services there is a marine section where a lot of the local marine repair guys tend to advertise their services for repairing boats/engines.. Here "should" be your area for you. http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/search/mas

Another idea would be to input your zip code into Mercruiser's find a dealer in your area to see what comes up....But as you look over the places mentioned, be sure to read the Services rendered as some are "Sales Only". https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/...999999&q=93105
