i guess it comes down to run whatever ya like as long as its oil with good additives for your application. guess being the strong word here because i don't even know if there has ever been a true study on this that was conclusive by all the research i did this evening on the subject.

Yeah ALL oil (including cooking oil) will encapsulate water and make an emulsion where shearing forces during mixing (such as being run through an oil pump) break down the water into small droplets. If the droplets are small enough they will stay in suspension (like milk) causing the oil to look milky.

A bit off topic but in my 2012 Equinox I'm required to run only oil that has the Dexos certification. I know deep down that this is marketing BS but I also know the manufacturer will try to find any reason they can to deny a warranty claim so I play along.:sad:
