As Scott said, verify with a straight edge or flat file the mating surfaces between the exh manifolds and risers. No green paper gaskets, use new graphite coated steel mesh gaskets. Use new gaskets any time you unbolt them, your engine is not worth the risk of water getting by.

Ayuh,.... I put on a brand new set of GLMs years ago, 'n almost lost my motor,.... Twice before I figured out the problem,...

The inner ring of the gasket surface was 'bout .035" below the outer ring of the gasket surfaces,....

Brought 'em to my local machine shop, 'n flattened 'em,....

Been just Fine ever since,....

Ditto the carbon graphite gaskets,... on dry surfaces,....
