Snapped the fitting on a 97 Alpha1Gen2 lower shift cable

How much heat can I put into the housing to get the brass shift cable fitting out of the housing? I have easy outs and a propane torch. any other suggestions? 1997 Bayliner Capri 1750 w/Alpha one Gen 2. Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,.... I used Ox/ Ac rather than a plumbers torch, but heat the brass part good, 'n hot, 'n quench it with cold water,...

Then lube with PB Blaster or some such oil, 'n try turnin' it out,....

Aluminum turns to liquid at 'bout 1200?,.....
