ANYONE HAVE THE TORQUE SPECS FOR ALPHA 1 TRANSOM

I AM REPLACING THE TRANSOM ON A 1989 SEARAY & I NEED TO TIGHTEN THE BOLTS TO SPEC BUT I CANT SEEM TO FIND THEM.
CAN ANYONE HELP?

THANKS, BUT YOU SAY 55LBS BUT THE MANUAL YOU LINKED ONLY SHOWS 55LB FOR THE PROPELLER NUT.
I AM IN NEED OF THE TIGHTENING SPECS FOR THE 8 BOLTS THAT HOLD THE TRANSOM PLATE TO THE GIMBAL.

Merc manual # 6 calls for 20-25 starting from the working out. Didn't think 55 sounded right.

20-25 lb-ft. I usually replace the anodized nyloc nuts with stainless steel.

25.. why I came back and posted the manual, memory sucks when you get old. Forums are great for picking up the personal slack though.

Yeah I found those specs but felt 23lns wa's VERY small considering what it holds

If you overtighten, you start crushing the transom. That'll cause plenty of water leaks and a rotten transom.

I'm curious about this 'what it holds'. As I see it, the weight of the engine is mostly taken on the side mounts, and the thrust of the propeller would push the house TOWARDS the boat.

I'd stick with 20-25 lb-ft. ;)
