Mercury alpha one Gen 2 gear oil leak

Just picked up a boat on the net for a good price and in the process of getting her up to speed. It has been sitting for about 5 years.

Gear oil was leaking from the lower water intake grate (port side), Drained (no water in the oil) and refilled. No leak for about 6 days, now it is leaking again. Holds pressure fine.

I'm going to pull it apart next week. Anybody have a best guess where it is likely leaking from? If you have a diagram that would be great!

Ayuh,.... Either the shift shaft or under the water pump,....

I'm leaning towards shift shaft. It's gotta be alot of oil if coming from intake grates.
Pics would help.
