Outdrive noise

I have developed a knocking noise in my alpha 1 style SEI outdrive. I get a knocking and whining sound when in forward and reverse that increases and decreases with rpm. I have installed a new gimbal bearing and the drive was sent back to SEI under warranty to be checked out. They said everything looks good in the drive. ..... could this possibility be a u joint noise? I looked at the joints and they seem tight but I did have some water intrusion from a bad bellows that is now repaired. I also did notice a bit of water came out of the joint when I greased it. Any input would be helpful.

Is the new bearing seated fully?

Yes it's fully seated and engine alignment is good. Good spline marks in grease all around bar .

Do the u-joints. They are cheap and easy. Here's a list of crossover automotive part numbers:

Sounds like the u joints to me.

They are dead, replace them.
