Can fit a 1.62 ratio sterndrive on a 4 cilynder 3.0 engine?

I have a GM 3.0 L, 4 in l?ne engine that originaly came with an alpha one gen 2 sterndrive 1.98 ratio. Could i chance it for an alpha one gen 2 but with 1.62 ratio? Will i damage the engine ir i do so? Someone have told me that i can compensate the diference in ratio, changing (reducing) the pitch of the propeller.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... What pitch prop was on the 1.98:1 drive,..??

I truly doubt you can get a prop small enough to run a 1.65:1 drive in a 3.0l motor,.....

The original propeller is pitch 19
