Replaced my lower shift cable this year.
I've owned the boat since '05 and it's an '84; no telling when it was done last.
Just dropped it in the water and what a difference!!
Was a little worried about the adjustment but it shifts great; no grinding at all, nice and smooth!!

Just thought I'd share some good news for a change!!

Just a suggestion from what I learned after I did mine for the first time last year though I'm sure you did better than me: check the tightness of the clamp after the first few outings.

I found that mine at the start of the 3rd trip had actually worked its way loose from the housing when I checked the bilge at the boat ramp dock before leaving and found some water in the bilge.

I realized I used the wrong type of socket extension :facepalm: so the clamp never tightened properly to the right torque spec from the beginning and finally worked its way off the housing. Lesson learned.
