Just bought a 1998 Sea ray 190 with 4.3L EFI. It stalls on shift from forward to reverse and visa versa. When I replace the lower shift cable what else should be done at that time. Bellows change, gimbal baring etc.?
FWIW, just bought a Searay with the same motor. Mine does that too, but if I let it run at the dock for 5 minutes until needle got above warm then it was fine.
So your operating with something that is probably corroded from water leaking in and think thats OK? The hot exaust and water are lubricating the corrosion.
