I just rebuild my 2 barrel card on a 2000 5.0 mercruicer inserting the rigid line in the card is a pisser so I cut the rigid line and inserted a 3/8 fuel line with hose clamps but now the engine starts but the only way it stays on is if I throttle it. so question is this invention I did not giving me enough fuel in the card. do they sell a complete rubber hose from the filter to the card. any help will be appreciated

you probably have an air and fuel leak.

the steel line is a requirement, however you can also use USCG type A1 fuel line. if you have any old 3/8" fuel line, that is a bomb, and in violation of marine fuel system requirements.

No they do not sell rubber hose from the fuel filter to the carburetor. it would be about 5 x the cost of the steel line.

I'd say the issue with it not running, is a issue with the rebuild. The rubber line should be allowing plenty of fuel, unless the fuel pump is shot. Now on the other hand, the fuel line should be hardlined from the pump to carb. You should not use the rubber line in that location, and if you use it in any other approved place, it has to be marine rated uscg approved.

this is the other part of the description. For fuel pump to carburetor connection. Replaces copper or steel tubing 3/8" X 25" PTFE composite hose with 5/8"-18 male inverted flare straight one end, 5/8"-18 90? one end.

Agreed, A1 is fine, I did not know there were replacements like that.

Yep. You don't even have to cut the line and get a double flare kit. Just buy a steel line pretty close to the length you need and bend it up. Like I did here:
