I think I broke the oil carrier seal

While attempting to remove the oil carrier seal underneath the water pump I have tore one of the holes open with a screwdriver. I was only able to move the seal up maybe 1mm if that... Now the screwdriver just slips out.

Can I drill another hole for leverage? Or is there a better way of doing this other than "gently prying it with two screwdrivers" as per Mercruiser?

I told you to "gently" pry it up.
An extra hole on the same plain won't cause any harm. But be careful not to damage the shaft.

It was a Soviet-Canadian "gently ". We must be measuring in different units!

I was able to pull it off using mainly the intact side. My lord was it ever tight on there.
