Which Camshaft?

Hi iBoaters,
My 1996 7.4L has a roller cam. I looked up the cam on MercruiserParts and it is about $600.
I know this is the marine “thing” talking. Different RV profile cams online are way below that by almost a half.

Where can I find the actual parameters of the installed cam so I can order an identical one?

Ayuh,.... Any one of 'em will work just Fine,....

I donno whether there's cam spec's in the manuals, or if that's some super secret info Merc hides,...

So long as ya don't go nuts with a long duration "Hot Rod" cam, you'll be Ok,....

Like many other things, the "Marine cam, Vs: Car cam" is way over blown,....
Any cam that builds power in the idle to 5,000 rpm range can be a Marine cam,...
Cams that build power in the 3,000 to 6,000 rpm range, Ain't a Marine cam,....

I believe that was the stock off the assembly line 7.4L Chevrolet cam.

under $300, a bit more if you get new cam followers
