So this is what the problem is.
I have a mercruiser 140 that I can not
Get to fire.
Here is what has been done so far.
Timed right
New spark plugs
New plug wires
New coil
New coil condenser
New cap and rotor
New battery cable ends
Carb gets fuel
Spark plugs do get spark
Starter is good
It turns over but won't fire

Any help on what we are missing would be greatly appreciated.

Wow it sounds like you are having the exact same problem as me! I have a topic going now trying to figure it out.

Seems you have replaced a lot already, have you check checked for compression ? Should be 130ish per cylinder

Also check you shift interrupt. Make sure the roller is sitting in the valley. If that is malfunctioning it can ground the system out and cause for a weak spark if stuck On it can actually kill and engine and or cause not to start.

Just for a quick start on easy things to check

What year you working on & did it just quit or has it been setting a while or do you know?

Just like with motodox, you need 3 things for your engine to run. Good compression, good clean fuel getting to the chambers & good spark at the correct time. Just having "spark" isn't always enough. It needs to be a good, strong blue spark tested with a spark gap tester if at all possible.

How did you verify that it is timed right?

I had a ASE certified mechanic time it.
It does have good clean gas.
We pulled the plugs and did check for a good spark and the mechanic said it was good.
We have not checked the compression yet on each cylinder.
It is a 1986 Sea Ray Seville
It had been sitting for a couple year in a shop.
