I'd like to check my advance timing on my 165hp Mercruiser. Is it ok to run the rpms up to 2800 on a flush kit? Or should I have the boat in the water when revving the engine that high?

Safest to be in the water, Merc indicates max in the 1500-1800 range for short periods. Now IMO if your someone which has a lot of city water pressure and using a 3/4 ID hose, double hose Y-muffs, you could take a chance. Short burst only, don't want to damage the impeller

Crank it up to 4 Grand, 'n walk away,..... probably not a very wise decision,.....
