Mercruiser fuel pump

Hi. I have a 1997 campion bow rider with a mercruiser 3.0 engine. It's running rough at idle, and some post say check the filter in the fuel pump. My question is will a clogged fuel pump filter also cause hard staring when the engine is warm? It starts right up when it's cold, but hard starting when hot.

It could, but if this was an issue you should also have trouble with it running down the water. Hard start when warm in most cases is the carb needs cleaning, or engine needs a tune up. Its always good to keep the filter clean, both inline (or canister) and on in the carb if it has one

Check the ignition timing & give it a general tune up.
