Gasket sealer

I am going to replace my T-stat on 5.0 Mercruiser. The gasket has 2 rivets on both sides of opening-27-53045-1.
Is it necessary to use gasket sealer on this?
Help would be appreciated

No sealer the crush rivets need to make good contact. Be sure you clean the surfaces well before reinstalling.

Thanks for your quick reply, does the gasket in the upper housing need sealer?

No sealer on the gaskets, any of them.
