Water seperator on Mercruiser 140

I have a 24 ft Pontoon with Mercruiser 140 (serial # 5852201) it has the filter in the fuel pump and also one of the little inline filters would I help myself if I would put an inline filter like this or any other suggestions? I'm used to working on diesels that have them and figures that it for sure wouldn't hurt anything. If I install the filter between the tank and fuel pump it wont have any problems pulling fuel thru it will it? No problem at all. Actually recommended to have one.

All new Mercs (from the early 90s) have an in-line water sep fuel filter (just like your link ) from factory. If you don't already have one, put one in.
