alpha one gen one wont go into gear.

I was out on the lake today and the leg came out of gear and wouldn't go back in. I haven't drained the oil yet, I'll probably do that tomorrow. Any ideas on what I should look at first? Boat is an 89 Maxum with the 3.0.

Pull the leg and check it by rotating the shift shoe and turning the prop. Make sure it is in the leg before you assume differently.

Looks like the prop died. The plastic hub disintegrated. Thanks for your help!
