I have, what I believe to be, a 1978 SeaRay SRV 207. What I do know is this the Mercruiser V8 350, 260 hp.

I have 2 issues:
1. I need to identify what Stern drive parts I need as I need to do impeller, bellows, etc.
2. Every trip I use the boat, I get moisture that accumulates under the distributor cap. Boat runs like **** until I stop, remove cap, wipe out moisture, restart.

From what I can find, the correct cap for this model does NOT use a vented cap. Other engines apparently offer a vented distributor cap, but not here. Ideas?
Iboats states the correct cap is 18-5389 but this is not vented.

-Engine Tag: Model: MCM 260, Serial: 5948949
-Transom Plate: Serial: 5934376
-Gimbal Housing: Serial: 5934376

All of this appears to be original.

However, about 10 years ago, my dad replaced the stern drive with a reman unit.
I need to do the impeller, bellows, ect but I don't know what parts to order.

My info on the non-OEM stern drive are as follows:

Stickers on Stern Drive:
-1:47, OA839251
-Alpha 1 1.47 Ratio F: *1FC07984*
-Service Gear Assembly *1RC20575*

I can post additional pictures if needed

First are you using the gasket (item 3) when installing the cap?
If answer is yes, then what does the oil look like, see any water in it?

Your serial number OA839251 comes out to a 1987 reman so here is the link to the drive

Here is the links for the boots and hose

Here the link for your shift cable

It would be better to upgrade to the new cable, but this would require to tap the bell housing

Yes, I am using the gasket on the distributor cap. Oil looks perfect and is changed at the end of every season. No evidence of water in oil.

I'm confused, why did you mention the replacement of the shift cable? Is this a standard maintenance item I missed?

Thank you for the help.

The vented cap was a real improvement on the older engines. Only other way to get rid of it would be to upgrade the distributer to electronic.

Most do replace the lower shift cable when they are doing boots after a long period of time. The alpha drives do have an issue with this cable wearing out over time, and since yours is an older boat it may need one. Your call

Gotcha. If I were to replace the distributor, what model do I need to go to stay compatible.

If I were to upgrade the shift cable, is there a tutorial on tapping the drive? How difficult is it?
