water pump kit replacement adhesive question

Getting ready to do a water pump kit on my 140 johny. Can I use 3m 847 on the gaskets as well as the o rings, or should I use something different?

I don't use sealer as it sometimes breaks loose and clogs cooling passages. I just put neverseize (the silver looking stuff) on the top oring. Never had a problem.

I've always used 3m 847 and had good luck.
