primer solenoid

will my 2000 70hp Johnson run if I just remove the solenoid? Just wondered as mine finally ran a bit before quiting. Closed off the fuel into but did nothing at the carbs.

yes it would run, but why would you want to remove it?

It tested as bad. 0 on the ohm meter. I removed it to test and clear lines. when it was off I plugged the intake hose and the engine fired off better than the previous attempts, But it quit after abour 40 seconds. wondering if maybe the intake holes to the carbs were plugged it would run?

Without the primer the motor will be hard to start and you risk damage to the starter motor !

come on dude it doesn't start now, I don't know how it could become harder to start.

if your primer solenoid is bad you should replace or repair it.
