Hello, I need help disconnecting the shift rod on my motor to drop the lower unit. Other posts say there is a screw or nut to unscrew but mine is pin in the very center of the motor flush on both sides of the rod. Any ideas would be appreciated. Below is a picture.

Look on the other side of that stuff.-----You pull the hitch pin on the starboard side of the motor.----Then push that shaft to the port side and rotate it.----Shift rod is now disconnected.----There is no screw or nut to undo !!!!

My view on the other side is very limited. I can barely see the base of the rod. I do not see a hitch pin at all.

Ok, figured it out. I thought you meant there was a hitch pin on the other side of the pin from my picture. I figured out you meant the hitch pin on the rod on the other side. I pulled the hitch pin, pushed it toward port and out it popped! Couldn't have been easier. Thanks!
