OMC temp gauge

Dad went a bit overboard in 1983 when he outfitted his (now my) boat. I'm looking for a matching temperature gauge to go where the pressure gauge is. I already have separate temperature senders at the top of each head and currently use the switch below the existing gauge to select which to monitor. Problem is, unless the sender is biased by the gauge, it takes 4-5 seconds to give a true reading, hence the desire for another gauge. Leads anybody? Ideally one that maches, but one that works would be OK too.

BTW, there's also a trim gauge to the right of the helm.

These OMC gauges were from the early to mid 80's. (try 1982?) You can scan through many years of the original accessories factory parts lists found on this factory website: epc.brp.com. You will see the gauge and other components. At least you can find a part number. Then start your search-not easy, as these have not been around for many years. If you are looking for good 2015 temp gauges, Teleflex makes solid, inexpensive gauges. You can check out their website, then contact most any marine dealer (probably including this website) in order purchase one. I still run one of these factory tachs on my daughter's boat.

Thanks. That said, I guess any cheapo 2" temp gauge might work. If I'm particular about style I could buy two.

Those are real nice guages. It says you need a temp switch, where would you install that??

I already have 1/8" NPT holes tapped in the tops of each head water cover, and wires running to the SPDT switch under the current water temp gauge. It would be a simple matter to swap the supplied senders in and move the wires to the new gauge

Yea man it sure would!! Where did you get the temp switch that goes into the head? I have these in my motor and would be interested in doing this also.

The senders? I just went to a local autoparts store and looked at what they had for 1/8" NPT types. I think mine came from a '70s Chrysler 225 or something like that. I believe they're pretty standard.

The black goop is neoprene insulation dip - keeps the connection from corroding. Ideally you should use that on all electrical connections under the hood.
