Hi I have a 25 hp Evinrude Big twin that I have been working on . thanks to all for all the advise so far. I have it set up in my test tank, and after running it for 15 minutes I see some black sluge floating on top of the water. I am not sure if this is from the fuel mix, or perhaps the lower end. I am running 24;1 which might be a bit rich. [It smokes quite a lot ] Any advise on a different mix? perhaps 32:1? Has any one noticed this type of sluge in there test tank? maybe I should just takes it out and run it? [it has been sitting for a few years] any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Todd

perfectly normal you just notice it more because it is in the tank and because they never really get warmed up in a tank 24:1 is the correct mixture

Totally normal. I'd be concerned if it did NOT produce smoke and sludge. Hey, they didn't worry about such things in 1954.
