We used a reputable marina mechanic to repair our 2000 Johnson OB 2-stroke 115 hp motor while it was at our home on the lift. He said he let it run for 20 minutes. The problem is that I didn't give him a key. Is it possible to start the motor without a key?

It's possible/likely that the marina purchased a copy of each of the various keys that start the Johnson/Evinrude engines. We stock most all of those keys individually, and it's not unusual for a marina to have a master set for their techs. You'd be surprised that folks don't always leave a key accessible when the mechanic is headed to the boat for work. Having a master set makes sure your boat gets repaired and no wasted travel time (on your nickel) to boot.

Master key sets are not hard to come by, I have a set that will open just about any RV made in the last 40 years, I am sure it is the same way for boat motors.

Unplug the harness and use a starter button and you can start 90% of the motors on the market
