Hey guys,

I don't have the manual (it's on the way) but I need a new cranking battery. The battery that has been in my boat from the previous owner and used by me for a while is a 24vs 625mca that worked but just couldn't handle the electronics/power trim. No issues turning over when charged but just couldn't hold a charge for what I have going to it. I'm going to a 29/31 group but I'm just curious if anybody knows what the min CCA / MCA are for this motor. Based on the previous battery, I'm guessing it's 500 cca/625 Mca?

Serial : J175GLEIS

Thanks for any help guys!

I like a little larger battery for a motor like that, or twin batteries. A single battery would be a Marine Starting battery, size 27. Twins could be size 24.

From my OMC Service Manual: "A 1998 Johnny V6 motor requires 500CCA (620 MCA), with 90 min reserve capacity. or 60 Amp-hours."
