I recently bought this boat with a 1992 30hp Johnson and i am attempting to change the impeller and the gear case oil. The fill and drain plug on the gear case are completely stuck. I have big screwdriver that fit the screw heads good but man these things are stuck. This boat and engine have been sitting outside for years so i am sure that doesn't help. Any ideas on getting these screws out of the gear case??

Use a hand impact screw driver that you strike with a hammer. Or try locking a pair of vise grips on to the handle of your screwdriver. That works for me.

Get an impact screw driver with the right bit. I've always used one and never found a drain plug screw I couldn't get out.

Thanks guys!! I actually have a impact screw driver that you hit with a hammer but i might need to find a bigger bit for it. I will give it a go.
