1977 115hp Johnson Thermostat?

I have a 77 115hp johnson and I cant exactly find the thermostat. Does anyone know where it is? Can send pictures of the motor if needed.

You can have a look at the original factory parts diagrams for your exact model at their website: epc.brp.com. You won't find the thermostat on the powerhead. The device is called a vernatherm on that older model and it's located on the "exhaust housing" parts diagram.

if this motor is a salty you may have trouble getting the bottom bolts out the heads of the bolts corrode over time & not easy getting a spanner or socket in there replace them with Allen cap screws easier to remove

We got it. Thanks. We posted a picture of it on a newer post. We will need some help to see if it is good to just clean or replace. Thanks.
