I know this has got to be something that has been addressed previously, but I couldn't find it in my search, so I am going to post in hopes that someone out there knows how to direct me.

I have a 1989 GT150 that I just had the tilt/trim motor replaced on. Prior to the motor going south, the tilt/trim gauge worked perfectly. After getting the boat bacck the gauge doesn't work now. I took it back to the mechanic and he checked all the connections and they look fine. He had me turn the key on and physically moved the lever on the sending unit and the gauge does not respond. Any ideas on where to look? If I need a new sending unit, any idea on where I can find the appropriate part number and then a good place to pick that part up?

Thanks.

I would use a meter 1st make sure you have voltage if so move the motor up and down if voltage increases when going up id say the gauge is bad if it don't the sender on the motor would be bad

You can check out the factory exploded parts diagrams on their website: epc.brp.com to find the original sender part number then source a replacement from that.

I went to that website but there is no sender showing for my motor. I went to 1989 150 under OB Accessories. It shows a sender for 60-110HP. Would it be the same sending unit?

If the sending unit is obsolete, what other options do I have or am I just stuck having to turn around and look at the OB?

????---The switch is clearly shown on the ---midsection---- parts breakdown.---It is listed as no longer available .--should not be hard to find a good used one.

Go to the top secret files at the beginning of this forum and look for salvage yards.

This Evinrude dealer still has one new trim sender left in his stock. Give him a call. Part number 583358:

Actually I spoke with Dry Dock Marina yesterday afternoon and they had just sold their last one ($70 - new). I located 2 more but they are more than twice that. I am a little nervous about buying an electronic component used. Is my fear off-base?

I'd test it where it plugs in first, it should range between 1 Ohm and 88 Ohms.
