Is my prop supposed to be like this?

Hi Folks,

Quick prop question. I was servicing my prop / shaft this afternoon, and when I removed it from the shaft, I noticed that a part of it does not normally move within the prop assembly itself is spinning freely. It's the cylindrical piece indicated in the picture below. I can spin it freely and lift it up slightly as you can see with the pick tool in the picture. The other two props I have do not have this piece move-able. Is this considered a "spun prop"?

Thanks!

Dave

As of last season it seemed to be fine. Have not put the boat in the water yet this year. I swapped it out with my spare prop for now...I won't splash the boat for the season opening shake down cruise for a couple of weeks I would say...

Thanks,

Dave

That could be some kind of a cover ring, and may have nothing to really do with the "grip" of the inner hub. try it on your boat, if it runs good then you are fine I would think.
