1972 evinrude 25hp cooling problems

Got a 72 evinrude been working on that was sized up. Got it back in working order preasure wise and all that so went forward. Finally got it all back together today and it's not circulating water. It has a new water pump so i took the thermostat out and it was stuck closed. I left the thermostat cover off to make sure I was getting water to there and I am not. Any thoughts?

found the problem after removing the lower unit multiple times and putting it all back together. apparently the pin that sticks outta the drive shaft to turn the water pump is broken. some how i missed it but hope thats it now. the thermostat was bad probably because it was overheated. at some point. also a bunch of junk came out when i back flushed the motor. hopefully it will all work once i get that new pin in.
