So i have the 77 motor with apparently a 95 powerhead to include the 95 style fuel pump, the pump says VRO on it which i assume is the oil injection portion (does fuel and oil use the same pump?) anyway the VRO section has been removed if it ever had one and i just mix the oil in the gas tank. I seem to be having some fuel pump issues and was wondering if i could order the simple (and much cheaper) 1977 fuel pump to put on or is it more complicated than that? I'm still fairly new to all things outboard so let me know if i left any information out, thanks in advane.

A 1995 70 hp powerhead does not work / fit on a 1977 unit.----Repeat it DOES NOT fit-----So what have you got , model # or pictures required.-------And yes a 1977 or even a 1983 fuel pump can be installed to work instead of the VRO unit.

Not uncommon for a seller to misrepresent things with outboard motors.-----Pictures and more pictures will help figure it out.

Perhaps it is not a 1977 motor. It certainly is a newer power head than 1977

The trim switch on the lower cowling was first offered in 1989.--------Flywheel in your picture was last used in 1991.

I see well that's helpful, thank you also I saw the late model carbs in 89 were the first with slow speed needles on the carbs which I have...am I still able to use the simpler style fuel pump?

The simpler style fuel pumps were also used on the newer 65 hp commercial models, those were exactly the same engine without the VRO equipment.
