I just bought my boat and I am changing the plugs on my motor - Champion ql77jc4 - Can someone please tell me what the correct gap setting should be? Thanks in advance.

I have just registered to the site, and I have searched for the information,... I apologize if this topic has been addressed.

If your OceanRunner is a 60 degree engine (the trim switch is on the port side) then you should be using the Champion QL78YC plugs that have been the factory recommendation since 1996. They have the extended nose for better low speed operation and drivability. Gap them to .030"

Thanks for the info --

I bought the boat used, and was unable to obtain the Service Manual for the Motor. I took it upon myself to change the plugs, and the plugs that were present were the Champion QL77 JC4 plugs. The trim switch is on the port side, and I will take your suggestion and get the correct plugs.

I run the QL77JC4's in mine. I like the deal that they are slightly cooler. Either will work well.

Good luck!

My book doesn't list the 175 but calls for QL77JC4's in the 185's 200's 225's 250's and 300's.
