What ????------That pin is not under the carburetor !-----It only becomes visible when you remove the complete powerhead.---It is inside the exhaust housing.

THANKS EVERYONE!

Yea, i had to COMPLETELY remove the screw, i tried loosing it last night which did nothing....

Found a broken impeller, which i MIGHT have been ok... but for the cheap fix it aint worth risking the motor... ordering parts soon!

Here's some pics on my site

No chance that impeller could of being ok, ive done a lot of things on the cheap but i wouldnt even consider that one even if i only wanted it to work for one day.
That broken vane will mean that the sections either side wont be able to pressurise properly and so youd lose quite a large percentage of your overall cooling water.

Lucky it didnt break totally off and end up in the motorhead otherwise you would have a long job ahead of you now.

The rest of it looks really good, 1974 cars hardly exist here now but these motors seem to last so much better

Next question...... my engine calls for 50:1 ratio which I wI'll be keeping a 6 gallon tank in my boat, for 6 gallons the mix would be 15.36oz.... would it be OK to just do a pint (16oz) every fill up? Or 1/2pint if I only add a half a tank to top it off?

I'm pretty new to mixing oil, growing up with everurging being 4-strokes now... lol

Yep sure a litttle bit more oil would be just fine, just make sure you get oil for water cooled engines not air cooled

Today, I got the decals off and sanded up, going to add a fresh coat of white, then order new decals online.

check the area under the hand grip at the top rear is clear of dust and spiders webs as thats where the air intake is. Sanded stuff sucked into an engine does no good
