1977 115hp johnson pee hole

Can not fine pee hole anywhere on motor.Does it have one?every other motor I have had did.got motor running finally looked to make sure impeller was working but no pee hole anywhere.then overheat buzzer went off so I shut it off.so bad impeller or bad thermostat?

If you have bad muffs or the water isnt high enough in the barrel it also wont pump water and itl ruin the impeller

Boobie so there is no pee hole right?also yes too new motor to me so will change both.thanks for the help.

Right...........And change the water pump for sure and then try it. Do one thing at a time. If it still over heats after the water pump do the thermos.

Should have a Pee Hole. My 1979 115hp does. Look for a black rubber grommet on the underside of the motor housing. See pic below

If that is in fact is your motor in the picture, get a longer hose and run it from the fitting up over the top of cylinder head and then back to the outlet. Simple fix. An old OMC trick. This lets any air pockets out of the block.

If it's a stock '77 it will NOT have a pee hole. Nor will there be a hole for one in the pan.

There may be a spot on the side of the # 1 cylinder where it is easy to add a telltale.

boobie is correct, no pee hole in the 1977. i just put one in my 1977 115 (see pics) and followed the advice in link in post 11 above. went well and no air pockets if done this way, good luck

Interesting. I reckon that's as good a location as any. Think I'd lengthen the hose a lil so it went above the head, but having said that I'm not convinced that really matters much.

Personally I think pee holes are over rated. We did just fine without them for all those years ...
