1999 Johnson Ocean pro VS 1989 Mariner fuel economy????

I am repowering my boat with a 1999 250hp Johnson. It had a 200hp Mariner 1989 on it. Does anyone know how much difference in fuel economy there will be if any?

The Johnrude looper will use more on upper midrange and top end but you should pick up a few mph also...

The Johnson will use approximately 25 gal per hour at WOT.

Those look to both be 60*V6 motors with carbs. It is possible both have a 2.5L displacement as well. I would expect the 250 to burn a little extra fuel as was cited.

The Merc is 60 degree and either 2.4 or 2.5L...the Johnson is 90 degree 3.0 liter
