Impellor/WaterPump 1975 Johnson 70 HP 70ESL75B

For this motor is is OK just to change the impellor in the water pump or should the whole pump assembly be changed?<br />Like everyone else in the world, I really don't want to spend the $$ if I don't have to. I can do the work myself (have the manual and some knowhow) but I need some advice as to what to order. (just the impellor or the whole thing). I am only changing it as maintenance as the motor ran well before.<br />Any advice is appreciated.

If you don't know the history of the motor and what conditions it was ran under, I would change the whole pump. If the lower plate and the cup have grooves in them from running in river silt or low lake trash it is small money for what grief it will save you later down the road.
