Recently found an old 9.9, compression good but no spark on one cylinder. Switched coils, lack of spark followed. Unhooked kill switch, still no fire. Is it safe to assume the coil is toast? Thanks!

Yup, I figure the coil is gone, they're easy enough to replace. BTW, the kill switch would kill both outputs.

Turned out to be a corroded wire where the coils plug into the harness. I bypassed the wire end that was corroded off inside the plug and spliced it into the harness. Spark has returned!

Go figure! Having the wiring connector corroded off is the same thing as an open in the primary side of the coil. Metering the coil would have been the next thing to check. Glad you got it sorted out and thanks for the update.
