Rewired all the lighting on my pontoon boat this winter and everything works and it look so much better. I hooked the motor starter wiring to a separate battery so it would be on it;s own and all the accessories would have their own battery.
I started the boat and had no instrumentation. no tach, fuel guage, battery etc. This wiring was hooked to a different source. I had to connect them to the same source to make them work. I thought the instruments fed from the motor leads. Any ideas?

All the gauges work off the battery. They've gotta have 12VDC to operate. Now, the engine alternator does charge the battery. You're gonna need a selector switch if you want a seperate starting battery.

c/6
Hooty
