1988 Evinrude, and a 1983 Evinrude 200hp ????

I have a 1988 Evinrude 200hp motor. I can buy a parts motor that is a 1983 evinrude 200hp. Are they the same? Are all the parts interchangeable?

Nope. The 88 200 is a big bore 90 degree looper. The 83 200 is a small bore 90 degree crossflow. Two completely different animals. Check it out on this factory website: epc.brp.com The 88 looper is prop hp rated, the crossflow is crank rated.
