Hi All,

looks like the tilt motor on my 74 johnson 115 has seized, its a tilt only model, 115ESL743 (or B), found loads of sellers with after market motors but they all use long numeric part numbers & most dont look anyhting like mine, where can I find either my part number or better still the motor?

it looks like this;

Cheers,

Mike.

The OEM factory motor you need is not shown in the factory parts diagrams for your tilt only unit. The part number is the factory lists for that motor is: 172543. It's long since been discontinued, but one Bombarier dealer still has a new one left over in stock: Give them a call and purchase it over the phone.

Well this is proving to be a F'in night mare!!

The part number you gave "OMC # 172543," im told is the prestolite part, the Calco is "OMC # 172847".

The OMC 172543 / 382715 = prestolite; ESZ4009, ESZ4012, ESZ4014, ETX4001 & also = API PT112N-NP-3, I dont think these fit my connections.

The Calco 172847 = API PT113N (motor only) = prestolite; EFT4003, ESQ4006, ESQ4007-1, ESQ4009S which can be replace by an API PT114-NPK (a complete assembly), a couple of places seem to have these at $620++.

The API PT114N-RP is a complete assembly, however it = OMC # 172850, 173596 (not the same as above) and = prestolite EFT4003, ESQ4006, ESQ4007-1, ESQ4009S, which are the same as above!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then there is a guy on ebay with this;

OMC 980940

271621822494_1.jpg

Which looks very similar to a API PT114-NPK / NP-3 but he tells me "The pump number for that Calco that I get is part #172577, for the prestolite I get #172655 and I don't have either. The prestolite crosses into a Sierra Marine #18-6767-1"

The Sierra marine listing #18-6762 = 172543 (prestolite) but the #18-6767-1 = 172850, 173564, 173596. So seems he has a completlely different numbering cross reference to others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Johnson / evinrude / BRP cant tell me the part number for my pump so I cant confirm any of this so how the hell am I supposed to know which part I need or can interchange???

For the 1973, 74, 75 and 76 tilt systems, there is only one part number listed for the motor/reservoir, part number 172655. From the factory exploded parts list diagrams at: epc.brp.com Found under the 1974 accessories section-electrical. Since the pump you have may not be in the original factory parts diagrams, I can see the problem it would cause them when trying to look up parts.

Thanks for the link,

however from that parts list;
730172577PUMP ASSY. USED ON CALCO MFG. PUMPS
01728470172847MOTOR ASSY. USED ON CALCO MFG. PUMPs

Pretty sure the 172655 is the prestolite assembly not the Calco.
