Hi

I am rebuilding a Johnson 1999 15 HP 2 Stoke engine with a handle.

On this engine - If you move the throttle to WOT and take your hand off, should it return to low RPM or stay at WOT

My handle stays, but the previous owner butchered a spring on to make it return to low RPM

Thanks

James

I totally agree, but does anyone know if the engine should do this out of the factory? If so, where is the component that does it?

I've looked at parts on line and can't identify a part

I looked too and can't find any friction adjustment on it. Maybe somebody else will chime in who knows.

I found a friction adjustment on the handle of a 1984 8 hp motor part # 394522 but it's NLA. Take a look at the break down and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still none the wiser lol.
The engine has just been rebuilt, so I'll focus on getting it started over the weekend and worry about this another time.

I have a kill cord, so if I go overboard engine would stop anyway.
