I have a 15hp Evinrude 1976 model #15604A. I have the service manual and parts catalogue. I have seen the numerous posts on rebuilding the fuel pump but I have so many part numbers I don't know which kit to purchase. I know the bests advice is to buy a new pump but $70-$100 seems a little high and my resources are limited. Plus I am pretty sure the only problem is that I stupidly let someone touch MY motor and they lost the spring and tip. Since they won't buy me a pump even thought they broke mine(I wish people would take responsibility for their actions but it seems most people weren't taught to do so). I can repair the pump as I remember where and how the parts were assembled. Anyway on the pump itself says part #320472. The fuel pump assembly sold by BPR apparently went from 0386979 to 0388683 to 0391667. How do I know what repair kit to buy to fix this pump as I cannot find anyone that has any of these numbers. I have the diagrams from"ramblings" so I only need to know what kit to buy. Thank you for any help.

Any kit made for the small square pump should work. Those part numbers 0386979,0388683 and 0391667 are for the complete pump.

Thanks for the correction hardwater. After rechecking: The factory does not specifically make a fuel pump repair kit for that 1976 pump. Never have. They would have you purchase a new replacement. The 393088 fuel pump repair kit lists for 1987 2.5 through 1982 9.9 rope start engines. Bombardier does not list it as applying to your engine's year and hp.
