how to change an impellor 100 hp johnson 1979

water isn't pumping through the engine, and it doesn't come through when you put a water hose on it, it still does not come through the porthole. Do you have to have the engine running to make it come through the porthole? Does this motor have a thermostat on it? What does it take to change the impellor on this engine? <br /><br />Thank you for any help you can give me,<br />coralsea7882

1) Yes the engine needs to run, to pump the water.<br />2) I dont see a thermostat in the exploded drawing.<br />3) Removing the lower unit.<br /><br />4) Buy a services Manual.
