I have newly acquired a 5.5 hp CD-11 and rebuilt the carb. After removing the carb from the intake I found a piece of foil covering the small hole on the carb and the block. I am enclosing pictures and wondered if the carb is correct or if something is missing etc. The person i got this from had never ran it. I am also considering putting a vacuum fuel pump on it and changing the twin hose fuel tank to a non-pressurized type. My first attempt at a boat motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. A newibe fishnferfun PS; I am unable to upload pictures Great this is a waste,,,,, any suggestions?

If you're not familiar with 2 cycles that may be the reed valve. It's a one way valve that allows air/gas to pass into the crankcase but not back out thru the carb. It's best to not even touch it because it is easy to damage.

Another Question i have is i have a Johnson 6 gal. boat gas can that has the 2 hose pressurized type and i am wondering if i should change this to a single hose type. it is in really good shape. Thank-You all very much for all your help, i am an old guy and this is intimidating for me to do this, especially since i type at 2 words a minute:) not really but close thank you thank you all

In your pictures the parts do not look like a CD-11 model at all.--Somebody has modified this motor !!!!!

Looks like a TECUMSEH engine has been transplanted to a JOHNSON.----Just a guess here.

I wonder why the previous owner would go to all that trouble? The proper carb is not all that rare. Not sure you would ever get that to run just right. Maybe though, never tried!

Well I must say i am very impressed with you fellers knowledge!!! My life has been a mad house lately and I included the wrong pictures with the wrong motor. But i will give you all kudos, you figured out EXACTLY what i had. The pictures I included are from a Montgomery Ward Sea King 7.5 hp model CED-50577A. From what research i have done it is a 1981 eska Tecumseh 640-21. Today i disassembled the motor and i am going to need a gasket set and rings as the piston was lightly rusted and the rings were broke. I am going to include more pictures. I want to say again, Thank-You Guys so much for all your help. Richard
ps; are parts still available and where?

you would have much better luck moving your question to the " other outboard brands" section of the forum, there are guys there that can steer you in the right direction. ( its a slow forum section...so be patient!)

I am going to guess and figure that is an air-cooled engine since I am not aware of Tecumseh ever making anything water-cooled. Is it 2 or 4 stroke?
I'd be surprised if it is a purpose-designed unit and not just an off-the-shelf grab of an existing application....lawn mower etc.

Somewhere on the engine should be a more "complete" Tecumseh number.
Jack's Small Engines has the best existing availability of Tecumseh parts and they know their stuff. They should be able to help.
