I'm new to boating and this is my first outboard. I'm not sure if this motor is supposed to have a tilt lock -- ie. a way to lock the engine in place when launching so it doesn't scrape the bottom.

Does anyone know if it's capable of doing so?

Here is a pic of the motor: http://www.smalloutboards.com/images/e479/boat-Evinrude-4-hp-Outboard.jpg

Thanks in advance!

PS. Any tips to operate it are welcome!

The motor is held up by friction. To adjust the amount of friction look at the mounting bracket between the 2 mounting screws. It's somewhat hidden but you should see a large hex head screw. Adjust it in or out so the motor tilts with the force you want.

Sorry about the mix up. The correct adjustment for the tilt friction is a nut on the right side of the mounting bracket.
