have 1980 50 hp evinrude when run buzzer comes on

On a 1980 engine you know the engine is getting oil because you mix it with gasoline, OMC didn't have VRO's in 1980. And that buzzer will be for high temperature.

it has vro. hood cover even has that vro on it

tee un hook tan wire from temp sensor at engine , if it still does it it is the vro. i premix rather than worry about vro. good luck:joyous:

Then it's a later engine than 1980. I just did a quick search on shop2.evinrude.com and the earliest they put VRO's on the 50 was 1985.
