With the engine lowered and the engine off, prime the fuel bulb til its firm.
How long does it stay firm?
It should for at least a minute, mine does for half an hour at least

It will usually stay fairly hard for a few minutes when the engine is not running.

i personally dont like doing it, but many forum members have posted that they pull the fuel line and run the carbs "dry" after every outing. that would probably solve the issue of seeing excess fuel in the lower cowling after trimming all the way up for transport. jmo tho

I dont like running it dry either but you could pull the fuel line and run it for a few seconds as that would reduce the fuel level making it less likely to drip out, without running dry
