carb kit?

So it looks like I need to do a carb cleaning and I'm going to order a carb repair kit.
So I have a couple questions...

1) do carb kits come with new floats and all gaskets, including carb to engine?

2) why would my motor backfire with the fuel tank vent open, but almost never with vent closed?

what motor are we taking about? some kits include the float, some dont. most kits for smaller hp motors come with all the gaskets etc and extra stuff just to keep ya guessing. fix the carb and the backfiring "should" stop.

Its pretty rare that they include the floats. You will need a kit for each carb if you have more than 1.

its a 4 stroke 99 evinrude 8hp. Weird how no one seems to list the contents of their carb kits

Thanks, I ended up going to the dealer (they didn't know either) and ordered a carb kit. So I guess I'll find out what I bought in a week or so.

If I'm reading this right, you need kit 439073. According to the pic, it comes with the float.

Every kit I ever bought (all johnson/evinrude) and one for a honda 25hp all came with new floats and the paper gasket between the carb and intake

Well my carb kit came in and it looks just like the one posted by JoLin, complete with float and intake gasket.
